Buddy Blooger's Blogered

What's going on now? Is that you, Leo? If I find out who's responsible for these shenanigans I shall be very cross indeed. I may even write you a letter telling you how cross I am. Then you'll be sorry ...

* Sidebar's back. End of good news.

* Can't comment on my own blog.

* Can't even access comments by usual route.

This simply won't do. I was going to mention on the me ... me ... thingy that I also have different coloured eyes. I'm not going to tell you now. So there!

Now I wouldn't cause you that much grief.
My blog has been acting funny as well.
Is the blogosphere tipping?

PS - I wish you no harm, as a matter of fact, I got our local library to order your latest books. So there!

Humble apologies, Leo. And also many thanks for library order. You are clearly a warm and wonderful person and I had no right to accuse you! It was just cos you took responsibility for the sidebar episode ...

Blogosphere more likely tripping than tipping methinks ...

Blogging will be light this week due to half term hols - which mean I have to resort to sneaky tricks to get on laptop - like not having lunch!

Get a beta blog. Not had so much trouble since I switched and it's easy. Beta stores itself somewhere else, or something teccy like that.
Old blogger is dying, get out while you can!

Awww.... please tell us. I'll worry if I don't know about your eyes.

Why haven't I thought like Leo. Note to self: get library to order Debi's books on return to Crewe. And Minx's book!

I've been having similar problems, Debi.

I think I'll take Minx's advice and switch to beta.

Right. Off to beta myself next week when time is my own again.

Eyes - born with one blue and one green. Apparently spent some Bowie-esque time with one green and one brown. Now one hazel and one much darker, but you only really notice when I'm looking into light. If Minx has her way, I'll always be bathed in light so might become more obvious ...

Now I'm totally confused. Of course...

Cheer up! The big day is coming!

No idea what Beta is? And now I feel a bit dumb! Nevermind.
Happy half term to all you others who are suffering from restricted blogging hours.

You could also try Vox-- this is Typepad (proud hostess of Petrona) who has introduced a free blogging service at www.vox.com. It has elements of flickr (photo sharing) and myspace(neighbourhoods). You can make posts private to you, to selected "friends" or to anyone. It is really easy to use, you can upload audio, video etc. See my example at http://maxineclarke.vox.com/
it's lovely.
Beta is good too.....Caroline, you can just upgrade if you play around with your blogger/google control panels a bit....you can do really great things with beta like change your background colour! and do tagging for posts too, which is great (you can do this on Vox, also - but not change background colour, you have to choose from a selection of templates). I think it makes sense to have a back-up blog on a different hosting system to your main blog - most of these blog hosters let you automatically transcribe all your content from one to the other. Wordpress (also free) is particularly helpful at providing one-button power for this.

Debi, Blogger has been acting up lately. I've had trouble accessing my blog, and I've read reports the servers were down once or twice.

I don't know that I'd switch to Beta just yet, though. Blogger Beta has its own issues, and although I've got Blogger figured out, I'm not sure I'm tech savvy enough to handle Beta...

I've heard of odd things going wrong with TypePad; not in a while, but if you want to set up a backup blog (not a bad idea, or just back up your Blogger files so you can restore / transfer them if Blogger eats them), I think personally I'd recommend WordPress. Although the variants deployed change so often it's hard to be sure...

Or, back up all your Blogger posts, and the comments, as text files (don't forget your template!) and save them on your hard drive, a flash drive, or whatever you find handy. That's the simplest to implement and keep up-to-date, although a bit labour intensive if you need to restore much.

If you can manage all that WA, then you can manage to click the beta button. I was last in line when they were dishing out logic, so rest assured, tis easy!
No more messing around with html on the template when adding links - you just have a handy little box that lets you add and take away at will. The template page shows you all the side bar elements so that you can rearrange, add pictures etc. More choice with colour and font, uploading is quicker and on the whole, beta seems less inclined to go into reverse at certain times of the day!

Blogger is definitely up to something - am quite tired of being booted out of places unwarranted. I guess I need to Beta too - I'm a bit of a computer ignoramus as Maxine can testify and so tend to stick my head in the sand. This has helped clarify what's out there.

Isn't there some kind of witchcraft associated with odd coloured eyes?

Anonymous said...

Oh yes, in witching terms it means that the person who owns them is special, very special indeed!

Debi said...

Do I own my eyes? Sometimes I have trouble just believing them ...

I think Blogger's picked up some bugs - it's those nasty bacteria again - and they're swarming all over poor Blogger making it do some very odd things. All my posts come up in triplicate...
