A special day

Happy birthday to my lovely dad!

Born 14/11/14 - work it out. Yep that's right - he's 92!

He lives alone in a 2nd floor flat, doing all his own shopping, cooking, cleaning etc. He also still goes twice a week to the local hospital - not as a patient, but as a volunteer in the A&E department!

Do you have any idea how proud I am of him??? He is absolute proof that, given reasonable health (that's crucial of course), age really is just a number.

Here's a pic of him at his brother's 95th birthday party a few months ago (!)
Dad's on the left.

Wish him a happy birthday from me! And many more years to come.

Thanks, cfr. So long as he's well and happy, eh?

Sorry the pic looks so weird. It was part of a montage and I can't get rid of that white space or - for some strange reason - publish it in colour.

Treasure him debi, while you still can. He's lucky having a daughter like you.

Now you've gone and made me cry!

He looks so good for his age, Debi! And reminds me of an old chap that used to volunteer on the ward I was in when I was very poorly. He used to sit on the bed with me, flirting like a good 'un and cheered me up no end. He was also about 90. Sadly he died last year and although we'd stayed in touch (had spent a weekend with him and been his only visitor when he was in hospital himself) nobody informed us so we didn't know until months later (when we didn't recive a Christmas card, we put out a few feelers).

Congratulations at having been able to enjoy your dad for so many years, and for... well, for being you!

Happy birthday Daddy Alper!

In 1914 did he ever wonder that today people would be celebrating with him through little electrical pulses running through the stratosphere? Mazin'.

Saw him today and told him loads of people who he doesn't know have been filling the ether with good wishes for him!

And did he think we must all be barmy?

Yeah - but he can relate to that!

Lovely lovely post Debi.A belated Happy Birthday to him. My Dad's 81 and features quite a lot on my blog, he's also one of my biggest fans next to my dearly beloved of course. He logs in every morning to read it.He took me out for a smart lunch today and told me how proud he was of me and I told him how proud I was of him and we both realise how special this time is.

Absolutely, Dove Grey.

My dad was 80 when my First Born arrived and 83 when Little Guy was born. I never dared hope he would be able to take such an active part in their lives. It's a huge gift and I give thanks constantly!

and lookee here - the wonderful jta has sorted the pic so it's in colour and has lost that silly white space!
