A fab new review!

Mystery Women have done a fab new review of Trading Tatiana in the June issue of their mag.
Reviewer Ruth Wade (I think I love her!) says, 'DA brilliantly evokes the lives of people living on the fringe...the central character is engaging and sparky and the runway teenage prostitute, Tatiana, is very believeable in her complexity...DA writes with a lightness of touch that does leave room for lots of gentle moments...A book threaded through with the warmth of caring relationships and ultimately says a lot about the triumph of compassion over sleaze...Full of fast-paced action and tension, TT is a book I recommend reading. It opened my eyes to a thing or two.'
Yippee! This is the kind of thing that gives you strength to carry on.

Good to hear about the review. I'm beginning to wonder whether I should consider a career change - to bank robber perhaps - in order to afford all these new books. Or at least buy shares in Amazon, though I suppose you have to be a really major stockholder to get a discount.

Congratulations, Debi!
I just started on Nirvana Bites last night, having finished "The Devil's Feather" by Minette Walters, which although started strongly petered out into leadenness, unbelivability, confusion and failed to follow up the interesting bits of the first half, veering off into an irrelevant and unsuspensful "mystery". Pretty damning?

Lee - whatever career change you choose make sure it's not as a writer! It makes you want to buy so many more books but fails to provide the necessary means. There's always libraries ...
Maxine - ouch! You're scaring me ...

Sing it loud Debi!
Lovely words for you, hope you have pasted them up somewhere!

Congratulations, Debi. Having read Nirvana Bites and Trading Tatiana, your depth and skill as an author is awesome. After finishing Trading Tatiana, really want to know what happens next. Also, nearly got asked to get off the bus I was on when I was reading it because I squeaking over the exciting bits! Agree throughly with Maxine over the Devil's Feather, was a real long slog and flowed like a stream in a heat wave.

Thanks all for sharing my highs.
Kath - I presume you have no doubt about how much your comments mean to me! Love the 'stream in a heatwave'. Ever thought about writing???

Yes, would be a great writer for insomniacs with some of my tedious tales - next problem would be getting them out of the coma!!! Or some tales of travelling around Leicester on buses - not sure if it would count as science fiction or just unreal - but it's quite good fun meeting people. Bit like a luck dip, getting on a bus, sometimes meet really lovely people, plenty very lonely and some downright strange, but generally quite good for meeting people.

I'm going to disagree again!
Anyone who experiences a bus journey in this way (ie full of untold tales and packed with potential for meeting fascinating characters)has got exactly the right attitude for a writer ...

Just wanted to say. How much I am enjoying your blog. I am finding your honesty about writing absolutely inspirational. I have got a few books to get through at the moment. Next up is Jean Claude Izzo! but I am pencilling one of your novels in soon after. Thanks for all your good vibes and congratulations on the nice review.

Oh thanks IM!
I love your blog too - the political commentary (so much after my own heart) and also your use of street art as a symbol of roots activity.
I don't always comment but always read and approve.
Talk about using all means to wrest back a bit of power.
Way to go!
