I knew it!!!

Shh! They know what we're thinking!

I've been a-blogging for many a long year now and I've only recently discovered what I believe to be a new and worrying phenomenon.
I've been leaving comments all over the blogosphere asking if anyone else has noticed that the word verifications have undergone a spooky transformation lately.

Whereas they used to be random letters like blgsqrt or hgrptie, they've become remarkably prescient, coming up with slightly- garbled, lateral-thinking, almost-words reflecting something within the text.

Finally, others have noticed as you'll see from the comments box here at Minx Towers.
(But I saw it first ... naa diddy naa naa)

Anyway, what's it all about?
How does 'it' know?
And should we be afraid???

Yes, we should definitely be afraid! Not only have I noticed it, but I hear them in my head as if they were real words, and a few times I've even found myself trying to use them on facebook scramble! Be very afraid.....Today's word is "sloce" -- could that mean a long, slow slice of something sinister?????

Not only that but bloggers are now starting to talk in tongues - shrieks!

Ovesse, Debi, your observations are correct.
It could be a sophisticated method for tagging and identification of word obsessed people.
And wasn't mein herring...no, my mistake...that was maximum goering.

I know that gmail reads my mail in order to advertise relevant things. I don't think that means they remember everything in there. Hence I am not too worried. Google owns Blogger, of course. On the other hand, if you get bombarded with ads for hamster toys, you'll know why.
I've also seen double ones in some blogs (but can't remember where - probably not on a blogger.com blog though).

There was a piece about that in the New Scientist a few weeks back.

Interesting link, Pierre. Thanks. I still find it all rather spooky. Just as well I don't write sci-fi ...
