Oo-er

Can anyone tell me why I've got that funny spacing on my links to other blogs? It looks fine when I do the preview but now ... and I can't see anything obvious ...
And there I was feeling oh so proud of myself for getting it sussed ...

Not really, Debi. But I used to get a lot of this kind of problem when I was on Blogger. Not being very tecchy, I have to admit that what I did was to set up another blog to exactly the same template, but not put anything on it. Then when something like that happened (and it often did), I would go through the two blog html templates side-by-side until I found a difference. Sometimes it is just a full stop or one character that has got deleted or something in the "live" blog.

This is a bit feeble I know, and takes ages-- an alternative would be to know html ;-)

Another variant on the above would be to copy all the entries onto a text file somewhere, delete them off the blog, check the settings in live mode, and then start again.

Hope it gets sorted. I am crap at all this but becuase of my control tendencis (;-) ) it drives me mad when the blog is not just how I want it, so I waste hours on this kind of thing, instead of getting a life or doing whatever it is I am procrastinating about!

all best wishes,
Maxine.

tendencies, sorry -- did not check spelling before commenting.

Hi. It's difficult to say without looking at the code and this comments box does not let you type in code but you could try making the code as neat as possible. Just re-edit it so it is in a neat line and make sure there are no spaces. Just an idea...

Remember to republish the entire blog to check the results.
If it goes pear shaped. Remove the recent changes and try again.
Not that I know much about this stuff but just some ideas.
There might be some additional code you can add to tidy it up otherwise.
You can search under HTML on the Web for basic advice pages or try the Blogger Help pages as they are quite in depth.
It is also worth knowing that Blogger is often unreliable so it might not be down to you...
Good luck!

Don't be scared Debi, the 'Link Police' are off duty.
I sent all my links to the bottom of the page the first time and the second time they were eaten alive leaving small pieces littering my blog. Make sure that you have followed the original 'edit me' template and then have a little fiddle. Failing that, they look ok to me!!

Oh blimey! Swiftly followed by Oh sod it!
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Afraid I don't have time to do any checking so will have to stay as is for a while ... At least they're up there ...

Hey! It's just fixed itself! You were right, Island Monkey. Can't've been me after all.
Is that good karma, or what? And how glad am I that I didn't spend ages trying to suss it out ...?

I'll have to stop doing this. All those little thumbnail pix of me floating over the screen looking sultry - I mean sulky - it's doing me head in!
Yet here I am doing it again. I'm being sucked in.
Aaaaaggghhhh - it's got me ...
