Never trust any story of ...Thanks, John and Mandy,

Never trust any story of instant success, I'd say. When you're in the midst of the writing, it's easy to think that, if you were a 'real writer' it would be easier than this. But that's just not the case for any of us - whether we've already been published or are still working towards it.ConstantReaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12949805812899834186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21629015.post-55788052299984098802012-01-14T11:51:54.487+00:002012-01-14T11:51:54.487+00:00What a great interview! Can't wait to dive in to my own copy. So interesting hearing the story behind her 'instant' success - my own story is remarkably similar (minus the publishing bit) so it gives me hope!Mandy Bnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21629015.post-38758759038334198942012-01-13T20:24:44.871+00:002012-01-13T20:24:44.871+00:00There's so much I can identify with here: the ...There's so much I can identify with here: the rewrites, the shear hard work, the limited time, the nearly-moments (several), Arvon, York, writing in the opposite gender - although my problem seems to be writing in my own gender, not being a testosterone-fueled competitor. The road for new writers is rocky, but I guess that if it were not so, there would be more mediocre books around. Thank you for the interview, Debi, and thank you for sharing, Shelley. That York reading has stayed in my mind, and I'm just about to open Jubilee for the first time!John Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14520067926147500085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21629015.post-29133398089162209392012-01-13T17:42:41.619+00:002012-01-13T17:42:41.619+00:00Hi Kath and Rebecca - it's Shelley. It was one of the things which made 'Jubilee' such a fascinating challenge for me.ConstantReaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12949805812899834186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21629015.post-18612278750934297732012-01-13T17:39:53.548+00:002012-01-13T17:39:53.548+00:00This comment has been removed by the author.ConstantReaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12949805812899834186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21629015.post-20475626166390783582012-01-13T15:31:16.259+00:002012-01-13T15:31:16.259+00:00Thanks for featuring this book Debi.

Am halfway through the novel and really enjoying it. Shelley has caputured the late 1970's feeling and it's taking me back to that time - lovely. The story flows so well and am only putting it down when absolutely necessary.

Hope Shelley wins a debut novel award for it, she deserves it.Kath Tnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21629015.post-38520132287083628002012-01-13T13:00:10.691+00:002012-01-13T13:00:10.691+00:00What a great interview. Changing genders and ages in narrative and a cardiologist. I will look this up. Thank you for sharing.

I also love the cupcake idea with the book cover.
